CREATIV FESTIVAL 2014 @WORKSHOPS

This is Cecilia Ho, our fiber artist & DIY kit designer, 

second year as Guest Instructor at Creativ Festival. 

 

A total of 3 felting workshops were offered during the event.

 Oct 23 : 3-hr Wool Felted Cake Keepsake 

It's nice to have a small group on Thursday morning.

Time flew by so fast & 3 hours is really not enough!

 

But glad to teach a group from local Ontario

PLUS one who traveled from NY to attend this class!

Oct 24 : 1.5-hr Wool Stocking (2D Needle Felting)

 

This is another fun class to teach a group

who never encounter felting before!

 

After their first try-out, they enjoy so much

& making something special for their special ones!

 

As a teacher, it's always happy to share what I know.

And always it's nice to know my students are happy about their works!

Oct 25 : 1.5-hr Felt-a-Tote

 



 

This was a large group with a whopping 15 students in this workshop.

 

Most likely Saturday morning class is the best schedule for most to attend.

 

We all had an amazing time!

Especially each can go through a big pile of wool fibers

& choose her own colors to create her own design & needle felt on the tote bag.

 

I wish I could capture all unique tote bags from everyone.

The more important is that everyone enjoys needle felting after all. 



 

 

 

FELTasticNAUTICAL

In less than 1 month,

we will attend the 37th Annual Lunenburg Festival of Crafts.

This is our very time to attend a major craft show in the south shore of Nova Scotia!

We are also very excited to create many FELTasticNautical theme products

to local & visitors to the Town of Lunenburg

"Town of Lunenburg - An UNESCO World Heritage Site, 

National Historic District, 

Communities in Bloom's Most Beautiful Small Town,

& winner of Prettiest Painted Places in Canada,

to "Because I am a Girl" silent art auction taken place on Dec. 20, 2012. 

Helping the world one step at a time.

ART TITLE

 "Circles of Love"

Circle is an ancient and universal symbol of unity, wholeness, infinity, female 

power, and the sun. Circles of Love can strengthen our connection with

 ourselves, with each other, and with all around us through giving 

and receiving heartfelt love.

Because I Am a Girl is a social movement to change our world one step at a time; starting with girls.

Their objective is to empower girls so they can begin to bring change to our world and theirs.

Once girls feel empowered they are able to do anything.
Going to school for an extra year can increase a girl’s lifetime income by 15% in developing countries.

In most situations however, the boy is chosen to attend school for it is more financially possible.

Girls are not only the child bearers.

We are the teachers, the police officers, the technicians, the mailmen, the soccer coaches, the farmers.

We are everywhere.

Once that girl receives a chance, she can begin a whole new generation of empowered children.

FELTED CAKE WORKSHOP

This is Ivy. She's my cousin & my student.

It was her first try with needle felting & she did an excellent job!

Each strawberry roughly took her 20 minutes.

Each blueberry took about 5 minutes.

The cantaloupe took about 10 minutes.

Applique Needle Felting technique was applied to mark "Happy Birthday" on the eco-felt.

It was a great DIY project to customize your special cake keepsake.

Maybe I should prepare more of these DIY cake set too!

The Mango Cheesecake jewelry box

is finally landed on my cousin's hands during our meet in NYC last week. 

This also explained why I weren't able to post any new felted creations on my blog over the week.

I will guarantee I will post lots of photos in the next few days!

The NYC trip was quite a success!

It was fun to search for fresh ideas & shop for interesting materials from the fashion land.

 I found many uncommon materials that I can incorporate into my upcoming felted creations!

What a coincidence! 

The same evening after I sent out the Mango Cheesecake to my cousin. I received an order from Hong Kong for another Mango Cheesecake plus the Mint Chocolate Cake via my ETSY shop!
Once I returned home, I immediately jumped back into my felting corner!

The package is now being shipped & I am looking forward to hear positive feedback!
