SANTA IS COMING

The Most Wanted 3D Wool Charm is now competed...
...with the Step-by-Step Photo Shoot tonight!

Next up: photo editing, written guide preparation,
typesetting, graphic design, wool fibers sorting, packing
& then ready to pass on the felting fun to everyone!!

The original mock up Santa was created on the plane,
when I flew back to Toronto, Ontario,
for the Woodstock Fleece Festival & Creativ Festival.

The back of the Santa is looking good, don't you think so?!

A couple hours were well spent with felting indeed!

CREATIV FESTIVAL 2014 @WORKSHOPS

This is Cecilia Ho, our fiber artist & DIY kit designer,
second year as Guest Instructor at Creativ Festival.

A total of 3 felting workshops were offered during the event.

A special THANK YOU to Harmonique Fibre Arts Supply Inc.
(Ashford NZ's Canadian distributor) who generously sponsored all
felting needles & felting foams for the workshops!

Oct 23 : 3-hr Wool Felted Cake Keepsake

It's nice to have a small group on Thursday morning.
Time flew by so fast & 3 hours is really not enough!

But glad to teach a group from local Ontario
PLUS one who traveled from NY to attend this class!

-------------------------------------------

Oct 24 : 1.5-hr Wool Stocking (2D Needle Felting)

This is another fun class to teach a group
who never encounter felting before!

After their first try-out, they enjoy so much
& making something special for their special ones!

As a teacher, it's always happy to share what I know.
And always it's nice to know my students are happy about their works!

-------------------------------------------

Oct 25 : 1.5-hr Felt-a-Tote

This was a large group with a whopping 15 students in this workshop.

Most likely Saturday morning class is the best schedule for most to attend.

We all had an amazing time!
Especially each can go through a big pile of wool fibers
& choose her own colors to create her own design & needle felt on the tote bag.

I wish I could capture all unique tote bags from everyone.
The more important is that everyone enjoys needle felting after all.

#WHY I FELT 2014

TODAY, 1st Saturday of October, is the International Day of Felt!

And...we won a 1-yr subscription for FIBER ART NOW magazine
with our followings  #WHYIFELT2014 stories! Happy Dance!

#WHYIFELT2014 ?! I want to "Felt It. Love It. Treasure It."
I want to handmade fiber art to show how versatile & durable that wool fiber can be!
I want to make something me & my daughter will treasure forever!
(Felted birthday crown by FELTasticFashion from 2012 (3YR) to 2014 (5YR), so on & so forth)

#WHYIFELT2014 ? Felting allows one to create without boundaries.
Handmade fiber art result is always unique, just like fingerprint!
(Chinese Opera by FELTasticFashion 2014)

#WHYIFELT2014 ? If something didn't end up what I expected,
I can just pull the wool fibers apart, reuse & restart. So Eco-friendly!

Family Felting Fun! Always!

Great family bonding time! Always!

SOCK MONKEY WOOL

ALPACA OR MERINO

Merino sock monkey (Left) meeting Alpaca/Merino sock monkey (Right).

Which one you like more?

Depends on the quality of the fibers, Alpaca & Merino are relatively soft fleece among others.

Alpaca = 18 to 25 micron in diameter
Merino = 12-24 micron in diameter

Thus, Alpaca fleece, similar to Merino Wool, does not have the "scratchy" feeling.

"Any wool finer than 25 microns can be used for garments,
while coarser grades are used for outerwear or rugs.
The finer the wool, the softer it is,
while coarser grades are more durable and less prone to pilling."

THE REPURPOSE FELTING PROJECT: PUMPKIN

It's officially FALL~
Just about time to start a new project : The Repurpose Felting Project!

Playing with the electric hand felting machine!
It speeds up the needle felting 100x faster! (IMO)
Now the old sweater is hiding inside as the core of the big orange wool pumpkin!

Making Pumpkin Leaves...Love Fall Colors!

Twisted & Felt

Adding FF signature = Project Completed !!

The most satisfying moment for an artist or creator
is definitely the time to sign his/her name or put on the monogram on the finished piece!
I'm no exception!

Comparing the two wool needle felted pumpkins. Which one you like more?

"Mommy, I'm so strong & not heavy at all."
"Well of course. It's 100% Wool."

Time flies when I held my little girl whose just started to walk through the pumpkin patch & also when I first discovered felting craft from the Annapolis Valley.

Four years later, I'm making wool pumpkins to mark another harvest
& thanksgiving time of the year!

Always Felt It. Love It. Treasure It.
