This Victoria weekend is Woolly Weekend at Ross Farm

"Spring is here and the sheep at Ross Farm Museum have had their lambs
and are ready for their annual shearing. There will be demonstrations in
sheep shearing, washing & spinning wool. Learn about the importance
of sheep to early settler's and about the work involved to produce yarn
and how woolen yarn was used to make material for the clothing
necessary for the cold winter days."
Ross Farm is a living, working, farm museum depicting 150 years of agriculture in Nova Scotia.
My children & I had a wonderful afternoon to ride in a horse drawn wagon, to see how wooden items are made using the same old tools and machinery as a century ago, to see how sheep shearing, washing & spinning wool using old traditional skills, & to visit farm heritage animals including oxen, Berkshire pigs, Canadian Horses and the Cotswold and Southdown Sheep.
The highlight of the day was to witness the newborn "Heritage-breeds" twins!
